This seminal work of the early Baroque is celebrating its 400th birthday. With its scoring for voices, strings, brass (cornetts & sackbutts) and continuo (organ, two harpsichords and two theorbos in this performance) and its variety of textures from solo voice to ten-part double choir, it brings the aural splendour of Venice to Woodend.
