An exploration of the craft of writing, with techniques that can be applied to both fiction and non-fiction, memoir and autobiography, biography and family history, short story and novel. Topics include writing about place and character, writing from different points of view, developing plot and structure. Arnold will respond to participants’ questions drawing upon his experience as a writer for

over 20 years.


Arnold Zable is an acclaimed writer, storyteller and educator. His books include Jewels and Ashes, The Fig Tree, and three novels, Café Scheherazade, Scraps of

Heaven and Sea of Many Returns. He is the author of numerous stories, columns, essays and feature articles. 


Zable is president of International PEN Melbourne, has lectured extensively on creative writing, conducted numerous workshops, and has a doctorate from the

School of Creative Arts, Melbourne University.
