This opportunity to hear one of Australia’s all-time
jazz greats in Woodend should not be missed. James Morrison was only
thirteen when he formed his first band, and at sixteen he made his
American debut in the Monterey Jazz Festival.
Following this were performances at the big festivals
in Europe, playing with many of the legends of jazz — Dizzy Gillespie,
Cab Calloway, Woody Shaw, Red Rodney, George Benson, Ray Charles, B. B.
King, Ray Brown and Wynton Marsalis, to name but a few. And that was
just the beginning of a career that has made him a household name over
the past 25 years.
