About Woodend

Woodend welcomes you for this wonderful festival, now in its fourth year. Even in the midst of winter Woodend offers many warm, cosy treats for visitors.

Warm cafes, restaurants and guest houses where you can while away time in front of an open fireplace and a great range of specialty stores will make your visit memorable. Many of these food and wine providers have registered their details with us here for your convenience. Some are offering specials for the duration of the festival weekend.

If you're feeling particularly adventurous, you might like to try climbing Hanging Rock, which in Winter is not for the faint-hearted. Just over at Mt Macedon is the fantastic Memorial Cross and lookout.

Take in the sights and stay in one of the many houses, hotels, motels and Bed and Breakfasts available.

For most visitors, Woodend is encapsulated by its charming High Street precinct, and between the festival events you will find opportunity to spend some time browsing and enjoying all that is on offer.

If you are unable to drive, or wish to help the environment, catch a VLine train from Melbourne, Bendigo, Swan Hill or Echuca into Woodend. Trains leaving from Bendigo Station and Southern Cross Station (Melbourne) take only 1 hour to reach the centre of Woodend. Call 136 196 or visit www.vline.com.au for more information.
Note that changes to V-line operations on the Queen's Birthday Weekend may affect some travellers to Woodend. Parts of the Journey may be replaced with buses. Please contact VLine with any concerns you may have.

Airport travellers can catch the Skybus to Southern Cross Station and a train into Woodend, or can catch the Bendigo Airport Service Bus into the centre of Woodend. Visit www.bendigoairportservice.com.au for more information.

Please note the locations of any Public Toilets for your stay in Woodend (Information Centre, Creek Playground and on Anslow St in the centre of Woodend.) Our friendly business staff will be happy to point you in the right direction. There will also be toilet facilities available at or near the concert venues, but these may not be open during performances.

The Woodend businesses welcome you and hope that you enjoy your visit to our village.
