Dear Arts-Lovers,

I invite you to spend the Queen’s Birthday  long weekend in Woodend (45 minutes from Carlton) and experience some of Australia’s finest musicians performing in intimate settings, literary events by acclaimed writers, high quality events for children, and exhibitions of silver, pottery and art.

This fourth Woodend Winter Arts Festival boasts the only performance in
Australia of the opera Dafne, written by Gagliano in 1608. You will also hear the superb jazz trumpet of James Morrison and Rod Quantock’s narration of Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf. We also celebrate the centenary of Messiaen’s birth.

Make the most of our accommodation packages and go exploring! The Festival has been designed to be enjoyed in this “lifestyle” region where award winning wineries and an array of restaurants abound.

Dr Jacqueline Ogeil, Artistic Director
